Catherine Ritch is a published composer and author of inspirational fiction, non-fiction and children's books with 20 books currently in print. Prior to her appointment through the UMC as the Circuit Riding Musician - a position that allows her to serve globally through her writing, speaking and music - Catherine served 35 years as an Organist/Minister of Music in churches.

She is a frequent speaker/musician for national and international conferences in a variety of venues, and was selected one of the International FACES of the UMC in 2004 and was featured in their Interpreter magazine, due to her mission work throughout the world. Through her latest children's series, RUDY THE RED PIG, she has developed the non-profit Rudy & Friends Reading Pen, Inc., which has been selected for use as a mission resource, especially for children, by several denominations. Through Rudy & Friends, Catherine helps replenish libraries for children in schools and church daycares in natural disaster areas and holds free cultural arts camps for children of the same areas. Rudy adopted the South Hancock Elementary School of Pearlington, MS (the first school to open in MS since Katrina) and placed nearly 12,000 books in their library. In addition, they've held 2 carnivals for the students and provided rockers, hand-painted from artists around the country, in every classroom for a reading center.

Her latest venture is a comedy series called "The Winsome Ways of Miz Eudora Rumph." Guess dresses as Miz Eudora on stages across America to offer people God's best gift of healing - laughter. She states, "In today's society, people take themselves way too seriously or get too caught up in things that aren't all that important in God's grand scheme of things. Miz Eudora, based on my Appalachian grandmother, is filled with golden nuggets of plain and simple mountain wit and wisdom. Someone suggested that I write a book called The Gospel according to Miz Eudora Rumph. I will do that, as soon as I finish her cookbook and all the other books in her 8-book series." Miz Eudora has appeared at Dollywood, and with 4 American Idols at a Holiday Christmas concert. She will be at Paula Deen's restaurant in Savannah, GA in March of 2009, and the International Quilt Show and Contest in Paducah, KY in April. Miz Eudora has proven to be Guess' most successful way of meeting people where they are.

A radio personality who once interviewed her said of Guess, "Catherine's lightning quick wit and musical talent are astonishing enough, but combined with her never ending source of positive energy, the woman is a ball of fire that's sure to inspire."

Catherine, who lives on her grandfather's farm in Indian Trail, NC, holds degrees in Church Music, Music Ed and a Master's degree in Christian Education. Her greatest joy, besides her family, is bringing hope and laughter to those whom she meets in her travels and through her books. To her, the mission field is everywhere she takes a step or has readers. She has been introduced as an author, composer, comedienne, entertainer, inspirational speaker, teacher, musician and missionary, but her favorite way to be acknowledged is "friend."
